This month, students will learn how to shop for personal items and stay within budget through gifting and comparing the prices of products.
Objective:
1. comparing the prices of two products and knowing why they are different
2 additional budgeting/gifting practice
Common Core Standards:
1. Use division to solve real world buying situations involving quantities, discounts and coupons.
2. Solve two-step real world purchasing decisions. Use equations to calculate unit cost for comparisons and fluently adding two products to fit the given budget.
What: compare similar products with different quantity, brands, and discounts
Why: gifting, shopping, navigating store, assigned to look for different objects, make comparisons, determine which one is a better deal than the other
How: a field trip to Target store - focus on categories such as Clothing, Beauty/Health, and household aisles
