This involves a trip to a store, where students will shop for presents during the holiday season and continue to refine their budgeting skills, meanwhile practicing social and fine motor skills.

Objective: 1. make a list of friends & families for holiday gifting

2. make a wish list for what they would like to have

Common Core Standards:

1. formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations

2. grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships

What: 1. what does gifting mean to the persons who receive them

2. how to set budgets for the wish list

3. If you have a tight budget, how to make your own gifts

Why: 1. learn how to personalize, practice perspective taking, preparing gifts for others.

2. Includes fine motor skills practice

How: participate in class “secret snowman” activity

  • To be familiarized with customizing gift ideas for different people to promote perspective thinking

  • To learn how to stay under a budget and always look for bargains

  • To know how to decide what products to purchase for different people

  • To be able to navigate a store and its website to look for gift items
