Students gain experience running a small retail business with a mobile coffee cart. They learn about revenues, expenses, profit, and losses.
Objective: Students will use the mobile cart to sell coffee and pastries to the Springstone faculty and parents on an ongoing basis, then track money earned
Common Core Standards:
(1) Apply and extend previous understandings of operations
(2) Interpret differences in data sets and accounting
What: Students will learn about ideas for potential small businesses such as coffee shops, and learn more about their own interests and abilities. Students will gain understanding of a small business
How: (1) Introduce what is involved in running a small business, (2) explain terms such as revenues, expenses, profit and losses, (3) Practice using excel spreadsheet to track them
